Island Pearl The Flagship Of The Fleet
Island Pearl is an ex-US Navy "Liberty Launch". She was originally built in 1991 by Willard Marine in California for the carrier- USS ESSEX, where she was assigned as a Ship's liberty and multipurpose utility boat. She was later re-assigned to Naval Station Pearl Harbor where she served as a ferry boat to shuttle Navy personnel for the remainder of her military service life. It was during this service, the number '34' was painted on; the boat was known locally at Naval Station Pearl Harbor as 'Shuttle NS-34'. In 2004, her previous owners (in mid-coast Maine) completed a conversion and total re-fit of the then named "Sagadahoc" into an elegant launch style vessel.
The Island Pearl has been inspected, certified and licensed by the United States Coast Guard. She carries state of the art electronics and all of the required safety equipment. She is certified safe, she is comfortable, she is friendly and most important of all- SHE IS FUN!
